In the heat of the afternoon sun, we came across this marvellous secretary bird hunting for prey in the wild savannah of Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. Note that its beak is open as a coping mechanism for the heat. Secretary birds hunt their prey which range from insects, lizards, frogs, rodents to small mammals by stomping their feet on them. Unfortunately, the species is endangered and faces threat from habitat destruction.
I am a Kenyan photographer with a bias towards wildlife and nature photography who considers it a privilege to capture these moments in the wild, and a joy to share them with you. I am forever grateful for each like and comment and humbled by every follow, as it motivates me to take more photos. It's always heartwarming when I find out that a photo made it to your favourites too!
