Artist's Description
The golden crown and strikingly beautiful colours of the African Crowned Crane bestow upon it a most regal look, and consequently, it is of little surprise that this avian species holds the mantle of the national bird of Uganda. I came across this magnificent pair of African Crowned Cranes while on a game drive along the banks of the Mara River, Kenya. They mate for life and perhaps for this reason are seen as a cultural symbol of longevity, peace and happiness. This particular pair gave really beautiful, almost poetic poses. I was privileged enough to capture this unique pose.
