Artist's Description
Watching these young male african elephants sparring to test strength and dominance in the wild savannah of Buffalo Springs National Reserve, Kenya, was an awesome experience into elephant behaviour. Typically, male african elephant calves will leave their mothers during their teenage years and engage in play-fighting to assess dominance and strength. This behaviour includes trunk-wrestling, pushing, and tusking, head sparring, mounting, charging, shoving, and chasing.
